Shane "rapha" Hendrixson emerged victorious in a nail-biting final against Sergey "Evil" Orekhov to claim his fifth QuakeCon duel title.

The win moves Hendrixson past Alexy "Cypher" Yanushevsky in career duel titles, however, the two did not meet at the event this year. Yanushevsky skipped the tournament to focus on his foray into Overwatch.

Hendrixson initially swept Orekhov earlier in the tournament to move into the upper bracket finals, where he would patiently wait for the eventual finalist.

The champion took the opening game in the best-of-five and needed every last second to push the series to 2-0 in the second match. The American scored two kills with two seconds to spare to send the game into overtime, where he would seal the victory.

The series was not over as Orekhov took the next game in nine overtimes and triumphed in Game 4 to push the final to the limit.

The comeback was all for naught as Hendrixson was too strong en route to his record-breaking title.
